Let me officially welcome you to the new year if you haven’t had someone else do so. Here at our guild hall, we ended the year with Curry House, MST3k and Agricola and rang it in with Civ and soba. Pretty much perfect in our books!
New Year’s is the time of resolving to do better, be better, have better and that’s all swell. But the thing about it is, most of the time, it’s not up to luck but to actual hard work to get that shizz done. So what are you going to do to make it so?
One of my resolutions for 2014 is to rebuild my wardrobe. I lost quite a few inches at the end of last year thanks to a serious workout plan (that I’m changing up and continuing in 2014) and my clothes all kind of fall off me now. So, yesterday, while folks were playing Agricola, I opted out, went on etsy and did some shopping. For about 20 minutes work, I have the basics done and ordered. If they were outside my price range, they’re at least in my cart so once I’ve saved up, I’ll be ready to go. But, in a few weeks, I’ll have some cute new shoes and the stuff to make some Alliance-themed cardigans, so it’s a good start!
I also grabbed an index card and listed off my MITs for the next few days. I have a lot of projects floating in the air (including two parties I need to plan and a big vacation in the next couple months!) and technically, my Christmas cards are still in the house, waiting to be sent. Writing these “most important tasks” gives me a visual list so when I find myself thinking, “I’ve done my WoW dailies. Now what?” I can look at it rather than queueing up for another five man I don’t really need.
I’d love to hear your resolutions and/or your top tip for Getting Things Done. Share in the comments below and have a great New Year’s Day!
